Hadith 37663
٣٧٦٦٣ - حدثنا أبو معاوية عن الأعمش عن (١) مالك بن الحارث عن عبد اللَّه ابن ربيعة قال: قال عتبة (بن) (٢) فرقد لعبد اللَّه بن ربيعة: يا عبد اللَّه ألا تعينني على ابن أخيك، قال: وما ذاك؟ قال: يعينني على ما أنا فيه من عمل، فقال له عبد اللَّه: يا عمرو أطع أباك، قال: فنظر إلى معضد وهو جالس فقال: ﴿كَلَّا لَا تُطِعْهُ وَاسْجُدْ وَاقْتَرِبْ﴾ [العلق: ١٩]، قال: فقال عمرو: يا أبت إنما أنا عبد أعمل في فكاك رقبتي، قال: فبكى عتبة، وقال: (يا بني) (٣) (إني) (٤) لأحبك حبين: حبا للَّه، وحب الوالد ولده، قال: فقال عمرو: يا أبت إنك كنت أتيتني بمال بلغ سبعين ألفًا، (فإن) (٥) كنت سائلي عنه فهو ذا فخذه، وإلا فدعني فأمضيه، قال له عتبة: فأمضه، قال: فأمضاه حتى ما بقي منه درهم.
It is narrated from Hazrat Abdullah bin Rabee’ah that he says: Utbah bin Farqad said to Abdullah bin Rabee’ah: O Abdullah! Will you not help me regarding your nephew? He said: What help is that? He said: In the work I am engaged in, let him assist me in it. So Abdullah said to him: O Amr! Obey your father. The narrator says then he looked towards Hazrat Mu’addad, who was also sitting. He said: Do not obey them { وَاسْجُدْ وَاقْتَرِبْ } The narrator says that upon this Hazrat Amr said: O my father! I am merely a slave who is working to free his neck. The narrator says that upon this Utbah began to weep and said: O my son! I have two kinds of love for you: one is love for the sake of Allah, and (the other) is a father’s love for his son. The narrator says then Hazrat Amr said: O my father! You brought to me wealth amounting to seventy thousand. So if you are asking me about this wealth, then here it is, take it. Otherwise, leave me so that I may spend it. Utbah said to him: You may spend it. The narrator says then he spent it in such a way that not even a single dirham remained from it.
