Hadith 36949
٣٦٩٤٩ - [حدثنا وكيع عن سفيان عن منصور عن سالم قال: قال: عيسى بن مريم ﵇ (١): اتقوا اللَّه (واعملوا) (٢) للَّه (ولا تعملوا) (٣) لبطونكم، وانظروا إلى هذه الطير لا تحصد ولا تزرع يرزقها اللَّه، فإن زعمتم أن بطونكم أعظم من بطون الطير، فهذه البقر والحمير (لا تحرث) (٤) ولا تزرع يرزقها اللَّه، وإياكم و (فضل) (٥) الدنيا فإنها عند اللَّه رجس.
Hazrat Salim says: Isa ibn Maryam (peace be upon him) said: Fear Allah, and act for the sake of Allah, and do not act for your stomachs. Look at these birds, they do not farm, yet Allah provides them with sustenance. If you doubt that your stomachs are bigger than those of the birds (and therefore you must farm), then look at these cows, buffaloes, and donkeys; they also do not farm, yet Allah provides them with sustenance. Do not consider the world to be something great; indeed, it is filth in the sight of Allah.
