Hadith 36871
٣٦٨٧١ - حدثنا وكيع عن سفيان عن عبد الملك بن عمير عن عبد اللَّه بن الحارث عن العباس بن عبد المطلب أنه قال للنبي ﷺ: عمك أبو طالب يحوطك و (يفعل) (١) (لك) (٢)، قال: فقال رسول اللَّه ﷺ: "إنه لفي ضحضاح من النار ولولا أنا (لكان) (٣) في الدرك الأسفل" (٤).
Hazrat Abbas bin Abdul Muttalib asked the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) whether his uncle, who protected him and became angry at the disbelievers for his sake, would also be punished. The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) replied: He is in fire up to his ankles; if I had not interceded, he would have been in the lowest level.
