Hadith 36163
٣٦١٦٣ - حدثنا شيخ لنا قال: حدثنا مجالد عن عامر قال: سألت ابن عباس أو سئل ابن عباس أي الناس كان أول إسلاما؟ فقال: أما سمعت قول حسان بن ثابت: إذا تذكرت شجوا من أخي ثقة … فاذكر أخاك (أبا) (١) بكر بما فعلا خير البرية أتقاها وأعدلها … (إلا) (٢) النبي وأوفاها بما حملا والثاني التالي المحمود مشهده … وأول الناس منهم صدق الرسلا (٣)
Hazrat Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I asked Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both): Who was the first to accept Islam? Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) replied: Have you not heard the poetry of Hazrat Hassan bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him): When you wish to mention a trustworthy brother, then mention Hazrat Abu Bakr and his achievements. After the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he is the best among all creation, pious, just, and fulfiller of promises. In rank and status, he is second, and in affirming the Messengers, he is first.
