Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

35922 - Husayn ibn Ali narrated to us from Zaidah from Abd al-Malik ibn Abjar who said: A man called Subayh said: We, the group of the Fatah, were with Ali, and he said: Ali was a man ⦗530⦘ (experienced) (1), and he used to say: War is deception. He would come to a rock and say: Allahu Akbar, Allah and His Messenger have spoken the truth, a rock. We thought it was something that had been said to him. Then he would come to the Tigris and say: The Tigris (2) Allah is the greatest, Allah and His Messenger have spoken the truth. We thought it was something that had been said to him (3).
