Hazrat Abu Hayyan (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that a Sheikh of Madinah Munawwarah said: There was friendship and acquaintance between me and the scribe of Hazrat Ubaidullah. I wrote a letter to him asking that he write to me the letter of Hazrat Abdullah bin Abi Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him) in which he stated: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said that you should not ask to meet the enemy. And when you do meet the enemy, then be patient, and know that surely Paradise is under the shade of swords. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to wait; when the sun would decline, he (peace and blessings be upon him) would attack the enemy.
