Hadith 35222
٣٥٢٢٢ - حدثنا وكيع قال: ثنا سفيان عن أبي إسحاق عن أبي الخليل عن علي قال: كان المغيرة بن شعبة إذا غزا مع النبي ﷺ حمل معه رمحا، فإذا (رجعنا) (١) طرحه كي يحمل له فقال (له) (٢) علي: لأذكرن هذا للنبي ﷺ فقال: لا تفعل، فإنك إن فعلت لم ترفع ضالة (٣).
Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that whenever Hazrat Mughirah bin Shu’bah (may Allah have mercy on him) went on a campaign with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he would keep a spear with him. When he returned, he would throw it away so that someone might pick it up thinking it belonged to him. Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I will certainly mention this matter before the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Upon this, he said: Do not do so, because if you do, lost items will not be picked up.
