Hadith 35084
٣٥٠٨٤ - حدثنا محمد بن بكر عن ابن جريج قال: - (قال) (١) أبو بكر أراه قد ذكر له إسنادا-: إن عمر بن الخطاب فرض لأسامة بن زيد ثلاثة آلاف وخمسمائة، (ولعبد) (٢) اللَّه بن عمر ثلاثة آلاف، فقال عبد اللَّه لعمر: فرضت لأسامة ثلاثة آلاف وخمسمائة وما هو بأقدم مني إسلامًا، ولا شهد ما لم أشهد، قال: فقال عمر: لأن زيد بن حارثة كان أحب إلى رسول اللَّه ﷺ من أبيك، وكان أسامة ⦗٢٩٩⦘ ابن زيد أحب إلى رسول اللَّه ﷺ (منك) (٣) فلذلك زدته عليك خمسمائة (٤).
Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that Hazrat Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) fixed three and a half thousand for Hazrat Usama bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him), and fixed three thousand for Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both). Upon this, Hazrat Abdullah said to Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him): "You have fixed three and a half thousand for Usama bin Zaid, even though he is not ahead of me in Islam, nor did he participate in those battles in which I was present?!" Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) replied: "Because Zaid bin Harithah (may Allah be pleased with him) was more beloved to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) than your father, and Usama bin Zaid was more beloved to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) than you. For this reason, I fixed five hundred more for him than for you."
