Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abu al-Huwairith (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) fixed seven thousand for Hazrat Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him). And he fixed ten thousand each for Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) and Hazrat Hafsa (may Allah be pleased with her). And he fixed eight thousand each for Hazrat Umm Salama (may Allah be pleased with her), Hazrat Umm Habiba (may Allah be pleased with her), Hazrat Maymuna (may Allah be pleased with her), and Hazrat Sawda (may Allah be pleased with her). And he fixed six thousand each for Hazrat Juwayriya (may Allah be pleased with her) and Hazrat Safiyya (may Allah be pleased with her). And for Hazrat Safiyya bint Abdul Malik (may Allah be pleased with her), he fixed half of the shares that were fixed for the others. Upon this, Hazrat Umm Salama (may Allah be pleased with her) and her companions sent a messenger to Hazrat Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) and said to him that you (may Allah be pleased with you) should speak to Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) on our behalf. He has given preference to Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) and Hafsa (may Allah be pleased with her) over us. So Hazrat Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) came to Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: Surely your mothers are saying to you that make equality among us, and do not give preference to some of us over others. He (may Allah be pleased with him) said: If I remain alive next year, I will increase two thousand more for them. So when the next year came, he (may Allah be pleased with him) fixed twelve thousand each for Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) and Hazrat Hafsa (may Allah be pleased with her), and ten thousand each for Hazrat Umm Salama (may Allah be pleased with her) and Hazrat Umm Habiba (may Allah be pleased with her). And he fixed eight thousand each for Hazrat Safiyya (may Allah be pleased with her) and Hazrat Juwayriya (may Allah be pleased with her). When they saw this matter, all of them became silent.
