Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Amr bin Maymoon narrates that I was present when Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was standing with Hazrat Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him) and Hazrat Usman bin Hunaif. Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was saying, "Both of you fear that you may burden the people of the land with something they do not have the strength to bear." Hazrat Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "If I wish, I can double (the yield) on my land." Hazrat Usman bin Hunaif said, "I have only burdened my land with what it has the strength to bear, and there is much virtue in it." Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Both of you should think carefully, lest you burden the land with something it does not have the strength to bear."
