Hadith 34822
٣٤٨٢٢ - حدثنا عبدة بن سليمان عن عبيد اللَّه عن نافع عن أسلم مولى عمر قال: كتب عمر إلى أمراء الجزية: لا تضعوا الجزية إلا على من جرت عليه الموسى، ولا تضعوا الجزية على النساء ولا على الصبيان، قال: وكان عمر يختم أهل الجزية في أعناقهم (١).
Hazrat Aslam, may Allah have mercy on him, who was the freed slave of Hazrat Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates that Hazrat Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, wrote a letter to the governors who collected jizya: Do not impose jizya except on one who is an adult, and do not impose jizya on children and women. The narrator states that Hazrat Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, used to place a seal on the necks of those who paid jizya.
