Hazrat Qaboos’ (may Allah have mercy on him) father narrates that Hazrat Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) was in charge of a portion of the property of the Muhajireen which had been obtained as spoils of war. A man came to him who had some of the spoils of war and handed them over to Hazrat Salman (may Allah be pleased with him), then went away. After a short while, he returned and said: “O Salman! Indeed, there was a small tear in my garment, so I took a needle from the spoils and sewed my garment with it.” Hazrat Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “Everything has some value.” So the man came and took a needle out of his clothes and said: “I am free of even this.”
