Hazrat Amr bin Shurahbil (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that on the day of the Battle of the Trench, when Hazrat Sa’d bin Mu’adh (may Allah be pleased with him) was struck by an arrow, his blood was falling upon the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): Then Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) came and said: “May his back be broken!” Upon this, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “O Abu Bakr!” Then Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) came and recited: “Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.”
