Hadith 34483
٣٤٤٨٣ - حدثنا عفان ثنا وهيب قال: ثنا موسى بن عقبة قال: حدثني سالم بن عبد اللَّه بن عمر أن عبد اللَّه بن عمر قال: ما كنا ندعوه إلا زيد بن محمد حتى نزل القرآن: ﴿ادْعُوهُمْ لِآبَائِهِمْ هُوَ أَقْسَطُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ﴾ (١) [الحجرات: ٥].
Hazrat Salim bin Abdullah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: We used to call him only by the name of Zaid bin Muhammad ﷺ until the verse of the Qur'an was revealed: Call them by (the names of) their fathers. That is more just in the sight of Allah.
