Hazrat Abdullah bin Ubaid bin Umair (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that when Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was struck with a spear, Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) came to him and said: O Leader of the Believers! Indeed, your acceptance of Islam was a support for the Muslims, and your caliphate was a victory for the Muslims. By Allah! You filled the earth with justice and fairness, to the extent that if there was a dispute between two men, both would entrust their matter to you. Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: People, seat me. So the people seated him. He (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Repeat your words to me. So Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) repeated his words. He (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Will you bear witness to this on the Day when you meet your Lord? He replied: Yes! The narrator says: At this, Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was pleased and became very happy.
