Hadith 34172

Hazrat Salim (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that the people of Najran came to Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and requested: O Commander of the Faithful! It would be a favor if you would write an order in your own hand and intercede with your own tongue. Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) had expelled us from our land. Please send us back there. So Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said to them: Woe to you! Surely Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was established upon the correct matter. And I will never change that which Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) decided. Hazrat A’mash (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Thus, those people used to say, if there had been even a little displeasure in his heart regarding Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), he would certainly have taken advantage of this opportunity.
