Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Mak’hool narrates that Hazrat Umar had a claim against a Jew. He came to demand it from him and met him, and said, “By the One Who has chosen Muhammad ﷺ, I will not leave you until only a little remains.” The Jew said, “Allah has not chosen Muhammad ﷺ over mankind.” Hazrat Umar slapped him and said, “Abul Qasim will judge between me and you.” The Jew said, “Umar said to me, ‘By the One Who has given Muhammad superiority over mankind,’ and I said, ‘Allah has not given Muhammad superiority over mankind,’ so he slapped me.” The Prophet ﷺ said, “O Umar! Please him because you slapped him, and O Jew! Yes, Adam is Safiullah, Ibrahim is Khalilullah, Musa is Najiyullah, Isa is Ruhullah, and I am Habibullah. O Jew! Yes, Allah has chosen two of His names and granted them to my Ummah as well: He is ‘As-Salam’ and He named my Ummah ‘Muslimeen’; and He is ‘Al-Mu’min’ and He named my Ummah ‘Mu’mineen’. Yes! O Jew, you sought the day that was reserved for us: today is ours, tomorrow is yours, and the day after tomorrow is for the Christians. Yes, O Jew! You are the first, we are the last, and on the Day of Resurrection, we will be the first to enter Paradise. Yes, indeed, Paradise is forbidden for the Prophets until I enter it, and it is forbidden for all nations until my Ummah enters it.”
