Hadith 33870
٣٣٨٧٠ - حدثنا المحاربي عن عبد الواحد بن أيمن عن أبيه قال: قلت لجابر بن عبد اللَّه: حدثني بحديث عن رسول اللَّه ﷺ (١) سمعته منه أرويه عنك، فقال جابر: كنا مع رسول اللَّه ﷺ يوم الخندق نحفر (٢) فلبثنا ثلاثة أيام لا نطعم طعاما ولا نقدر عليه، فعرضت في الخندق كُدْيةٌ، فجئت إلى رسول اللَّه ﷺ فقلت: يا رسول اللَّه هذه كدية قد عرضت في الخندق، فرششنا عليها الماء، قال: فقام رسول اللَّه ﷺ وبطنه معصوب بحجر، فأخذ المعول أو المسحاة ثم سمى ثلاثًا ثم ضرب فعادت كثيبا أهيل، فلما رأيت ذلك من رسول اللَّه ﷺ (قلت: يا رسول اللَّه) (٣) ائذن لي، فأذن لي، فجئت امرأتي فقلت: ثكلتك أمك، قد رأيت من رسول اللَّه ﷺ شيئًا لا أصبر ⦗٤٤١⦘ عليه، فما عندك؟ قالت: عندي صاع من شعير وعناق، (قال) (٤): (فطحنا) (٥) الشعير (وذبحنا) (٦) العناق وسلخناها وجعلناها في البرمة وعجنا الشعير، ثم رجعت إلى رسول اللَّه ﷺ (فلبثت) (٧) ساعة واستأذنته (٨) فأذن لي فجئت، فإذا العجين قد أمكن، فأمرتها بالخبز، وجعلت القدر على الأثافي، ثم جئت رسول اللَّه ﷺ (فساررته) (٩) فقلت: إن عندنا طعيمًا لنا، فإن رأيت أن تقوم معي أنت ورجل أو رجلان معك فعلت، قال: "وكم هو؟ " قلت: صاع من شعير وعناق، قال: "ارجع إلى أهلك وقل لها لا تنزعي البرمة من الأثافي ولا تخرجي الخبز من التنور حتى آتي"، ثم قال للناس: "قوموا إلى بيت جابر"، قال: فاستحييت حياء لا يعلمه إلا اللَّه، فقلت لامرأتي: ثكلتك أمك جاءك رسول اللَّه ﷺ بأصحابه أجمعين، فقالت: أكان رسول اللَّه ﷺ سألك عن الطعام؟ فقلت: نعم، فقالت: اللَّه ورسوله أعلم، قد أخبرته بما كان عندنا، قال: فذهب عني بعض ما (١٠) أجد، قلت لها: صدقت، قال: فجاء رسول اللَّه ﷺ فدخل ثم قال لأصحابه: "لا تضاغطوا"، ثم برك على التنور وعلى البرمة، ثم جعلنا نأخذ من التنور الخبز ونأخذ اللحم من البرمة، فنثرد ونغرف ونقرب إليهم، وقال رسول اللَّه ﷺ: "ليجلس على الصحفة سبعة أو ثمانية"، قال: فلما أكلوا كشفنا التنور والبرمة فإذا هما قد عادا إلى أملأ ما كانا [فنثرد ⦗٤٤٢⦘ ونغرف ونقرب إليهم فلم نزل نفعل كذلك كلما فتحنا التنور وكشفنا عن البرمة وجدناهما أملأ ما كانا] (١١)، حتى شبع المسلمون كلهم، وبقي طائفة من الطعام، فقال لنا رسول اللَّه ﷺ: "إن الناس قد أصابتهم نحمصة فكلوا وأطعموا"، قال: فلم نزل يومنا نأكل ونطعم، قال: وأخبرني أنهم كانوا ثمانمائة أو ثلاثمائة (١٢).
Ayman narrates: I said to Hazrat Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him), "Please relate to me a hadith from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) which you heard from him, so that I may narrate it from you." Hazrat Jabir said: On the day of the Trench, we were digging the trench in the presence of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). For three days, we had nothing to eat, nor were we able to find anything. Then, a rock obstructed us in the trench. I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! This rock has blocked us in the trench. We poured water over it." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up, and there was a stone tied to his stomach. He took the pickaxe or shovel, recited 'Bismillah' three times, and struck it, so it became like sand.
(2) When I saw the condition of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), I said, "O Messenger of Allah! Please allow me to go." He gave me permission. I went to my wife and said, "May your mother weep for you! I have seen such a state of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that I cannot bear it. What do you have?" She said, "I have a sa’ of barley and a six-month-old kid goat." He says: We ground the barley and slaughtered the goat. We skinned it and put it in the pot, kneaded the barley flour, then I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), waited for a while, and then sought permission again. He granted permission. When I returned, the dough was ready. I told her to bake the bread, put the pot on the stove, and went to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and whispered, "We have a little food. If you and one or two men with you come, it would be good." He asked, "How much is it?" I said, "A sa’ of barley and a kid goat." He said, "Go to your house and tell your family not to remove the pot from the stove nor the bread from the oven until I come."
(3) Then he told the people, "Let us go to Jabir’s house." He says: I felt such embarrassment that only Allah knows. I said to my wife, "May your mother weep for you! The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is coming to your house with all the companions." She said, "Did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ask you about the food?" I said, "Yes!" She said, "Allah and His Messenger know best. You have told him about our food." My worry lessened, and I said, "You have spoken the truth."
(4) He says: Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came and entered the house. He told his companions, "Do not crowd." Then he prayed for blessing on the oven and the pot. We kept taking bread from the oven and meat from the pot, making tharid (a dish of bread and meat) and serving it to the people. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Let seven or eight people sit at a bowl." When they had eaten, we lifted the cover from the oven and the lid from the pot, and they were fuller than before. Then we kept making tharid, filling the spoon, and serving it to them, and kept doing so. Whenever we opened the oven or the pot, we found them fuller than before, until all the Muslims were satisfied, and food was still left over. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to us, "People are hungry, so eat and feed others." He says: We kept eating and feeding others all day. He says: At that time, we were either eight hundred or three hundred.
