Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Hudhaifah bin Yaman (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) went towards the locality of Banu Muawiyah and I followed behind him. When he reached there, he performed eight units (rak‘ahs) of the forenoon (duha) prayer and made them lengthy. Then he turned and said, "O Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him)! Did I make it too long for you?" I said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "I asked Allah for three things; He granted me two and withheld one. I asked that He not allow any outsider to overpower my ummah, and He granted it. I asked that He not destroy them with famine, and He granted it. And I asked that He not cause them to fight among themselves, but He withheld that."
