Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Sa’d narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came one day from the outskirts of Madinah until, when he passed by the mosque of Banu Mu’awiyah, he entered it and performed two rak’ahs, and we also prayed with him. He made a long supplication to Allah, then turned towards us and said: I asked my Lord for three things; two He granted me, and one He refused. I asked my Lord that my ummah not be destroyed by famine, and Allah granted this to me. And I asked Him that my ummah not be destroyed by drowning, and He granted this to me as well. And I asked Him to prevent them from fighting among themselves, but this supplication was rejected.
