Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Shu’bi narrates that the wealth of a freed slave was brought to Hazrat Ibn Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him), whose masters had set him free in such a way that no one would inherit from him. He said to his masters, “This is the wealth of your freed slave.” They replied, “We have no need for this wealth; we freed him in such a way that no one would have authority over him.” He said, “The places for the wealth of Muslims are designated.”
