Hazrat Sufyan says that I asked Hazrat A’mash why this issue is called “Akdariyyah”? He replied that Abdul Malik bin Marwan had asked this issue from a man named “Akdar.” He made a mistake in it, so he (Abdul Malik) named this issue “Akdariyyah.” Hazrat Waki’ says that before this explanation of Hazrat Sufyan, we used to think that the issue was named Akdariyyah because Hazrat Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) gave a dusty (unclear) statement about this issue, meaning he did not clarify his point.
