Hadith 33339
٣٣٣٣٩ - حدثنا ابن علية عن خالد عن محمد بن سيرين قال: أراد عبيد اللَّه بن زياد أن يورث الأخت من الأم مع الجد، وقال: إن عمر قد ورث الأخت معه، فقال (عبد) (١) اللَّه بن عتبة: إني لست بسبائي ولا حروري (فاقتفِ) (٢) الأثر، فإنك لن تخطئ في الطريق ما دمت على الأثر (٣).
Muhammad bin Sirin narrates that Ubaidullah bin Ziyad intended to make a uterine sister an heir in the presence of the grandfather, and he said that Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) had made a uterine sister an heir along with the grandfather. So Hazrat Abdullah bin Utbah said: "I am neither a Saba'i nor a Khariji, therefore you should follow the hadith, because as long as you follow the hadith, you will not go astray from the straight path."
