Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Abdul Kareem bin Rafee’ says that in Rayy, a man passed away and left behind wealth and slaves as inheritance, and in his will he said: “My such-and-such slave is for so-and-so, and such-and-such slave is for such-and-such person,” and his will did not reach up to one third of the wealth. Then, when the slaves were brought to Kufa, some of the slaves died, and those slaves did not die for whom he had made the will for those people. I asked Ibrahim about this matter, so he said: Those people for whom the slaves were willed should be given the slaves according to the will of the one who made the will.
