Hadith 32092
٣٢٠٩٢ - حدثنا أبو أسامة عن (عمر) (١) بن حمزة عن سالم عن ابن عمر قال: سألني عمر: كم معك من القرآن؟ قلت: عشر سور، فقال لعبيد اللَّه بن عمر: كم معك من القرآن؟ قال: سورة، قال عبد اللَّه: فلم (ينهنا ولم يأمرنا) (٢) غير أنه قال: (فإن) (٣) كنتم (متعلمين) (٤) منه بشيء، فعليكم بهذا المفصل فإنه أحفظ (٥).
Hazrat Salim narrates that Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) said: Hazrat Umar asked me, "How much of the Qur'an have you memorized?" I replied, "One surah." Hazrat Abdullah says: Then he neither commanded us to do any work nor forbade us from any work except that he said: "So if you learn anything from the Qur'an, then these detailed surahs are obligatory upon you, because they are better preserved."
