Hadith 31733
٣١٧٣٣ - حدثنا محمد بن بشر قال: حدثنا سعيد عن قتادة أن نبي اللَّه ﷺ كان إذا رأى الهلال قال: "هلال خير ورشد، هلال رشد وخير، هلال خير ورشد، آمنت بالذي خلقك -ثلاثًا، الحمد للَّه (الذي) (١) (ذهب بهلال) (٢) كذا وكذا وجاء ⦗٣٣١⦘ (بهلال) (٣) كذا وكذا (٤).
Hazrat Qatadah narrates that when the Prophet of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, saw the new moon, he would say three times: "A moon of goodness and guidance, a moon of guidance and goodness, and a moon of goodness and guidance." I have faith in the One who created you. Then he would recite: "All praise is for Allah who took the moon away in such and such a way, and brought the moon in such and such a way."
