Hadith 31728
٣١٧٢٨ - حدثنا محمد بن بشر حدثنا عبد العزيز بن عمر قال: حدثني من لا أتهم (١) عن عبادة بن الصامت قال: كان رسول اللَّه ﷺ إذا رأى الهلال قال: "اللَّه أكبر اللَّه أكبر، الحمد للَّه لا حول ولا قوة إلا باللَّه، اللهم إني أسألك خير هذا الشهر، وأعوذ بك من شر القدر، وأعوذ بك من شر يوم الحشر" (٢).
Hazrat Ubadah bin Samit narrates that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw the new moon, he would supplicate as follows: Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, all praise is for Allah, there is no power to avoid sins and no strength to do good except by Allah's help. O Allah! I ask You for the goodness of this month, and I seek Your protection from the evil of destiny, and I seek Your protection from the evil of the Day of Gathering.
