Hadith 31601
٣١٦٠١ - حدثنا عفان بن مسلم حدثنا جعفر بن سليمان حدثنا أبو التياح قال: سأل رجل (عبد اللَّه) (١) بن (خنبش) (٢) كيف صنع رسول اللَّه ﷺ حين كادته ⦗٢٩١⦘ الشياطين؟ قال: جاءت الشياطين إلى رسول اللَّه ﷺ من الأودية وتحدرت عليه من الجبال، وفيهم شيطان معه شعلة نار يريد أن يحرق بها رسول اللَّه ﷺ فأرعب منهم قال: جعفر أحسبه قال: جعل يتأخر، قال: وجاءه جبريل فقال: يا محمد قل: قال: "ما أقول؟ " قال: "قل أعوذ بكلمات اللَّه التامات التي لا يجاوزهن بر ولا فاجر من شر ما خلق وذرأ وبرأ، ومن شر ما ينزل من السماء، ومن شر ما يعرج فيها، ومن شر ما ذرأ في الأرض، ومن شر ما يخرج منها، ومن شر فتن الليل والنهار، ومن شر كل طارق إلا طارقا يطرق بخير يا رحمن"، قال: فطفئت نار (الشياطين) (٣) قال: وهزمهم اللَّه (٤).
Hazrat Abu Al-Tiyah narrates that a person asked Hazrat Abdullah bin Khabsh: When the devils tried to deceive the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), what would the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) do? He replied: Once, some devils came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) from the valleys, and descended from the mountain to him, among them was a devil who had a burning ember with him, intending to burn the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) with it. So, their terror overcame the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Hazrat Ja'far says: I think the narrator said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began to retreat. The narrator says: Then Hazrat Jibreel (Gabriel) appeared before the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)! Recite! The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: What should I recite? Hazrat Jibreel said: Recite! I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah, which neither the righteous nor the wicked can surpass, from the evil of everything He has created, brought into existence, and made, and from the evil of everything that rises in the sky, and from the evil of everything that is created in the earth, and from the evil of everything that emerges from the earth, and from the evil of the trials of day and night, and from the evil of everything that appears at night except that which brings good, O Most Merciful! The narrator says: Then the fire of the devils was extinguished. He says: Thus Allah defeated those devils.
