Hazrat Abdullah narrates that the purified wife of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), Umm Habibah, was making supplication one day: O Allah! Continue to grant me benefit for a long time through my husband, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), my father Abu Sufyan, and my brother Muawiyah. Abdullah says: Then the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: You have asked Allah regarding those whose time of death has already been fixed, whose days have been numbered, and whose sustenance has been distributed, and they can never advance anything before its appointed time nor delay anything beyond its appointed time. And if you had asked Allah in this way: Protect me from the punishment of Hell, and protect me from the punishment of the grave!—then that would have been better and more virtuous for you.
