Hadith 30995
٣٠٩٩٥ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا ابن مهدي عن سفيان عن فراس عن الشعبي عن مسروق عن عبد اللَّه أنه سئل عن رجل تزوج امرأة فمات عنها ولم يدخل بها ولم يفرض لها صداقًا قال: (فقال) (١) عبد اللَّه: لها الصداق ولها الميراث وعليها العدة، (وقال) (٢) معقل بن (سنان) (٣): شهدت رسول اللَّه ﷺ قضى في بروع بنت واشق بمثل ذلك (٤).
Hazrat Masruq narrates that Hazrat Abdullah bin Masood (may Allah be pleased with him) was asked about a man who married a woman, then he died, and the man had not consummated the marriage with her nor had he fixed a dowry for her. What will happen in this case? Hazrat Abdullah replied that the woman will receive a dowry similar to that of women of her status, she will also receive inheritance, and she will be required to observe the waiting period (‘iddah). Upon this, Ma’qil bin Sinan said that he was present with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gave exactly the same verdict regarding Barwa’ bint Washiq.
