Hazrat Abu Dharr narrates that during a journey we were with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when a man came and confessed to committing adultery. So the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) turned that person back three times. When he came the fourth time, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) dismounted and gave the order regarding him, so he was stoned to death. And this matter was very distressing to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), to the extent that I noticed its effect on his face. When the anger of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) subsided, he said: O Abu Dharr! Your companion has been forgiven. The narrator said: It was said that indeed his repentance was that the prescribed punishment was carried out upon him.
