Hadith 30296
٣٠٢٩٦ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا عبد الرحيم بن (سليمان) (١) عن مجالد عن الشعبي قال: كان علي يرزق الناس الطلاء في دنان صغار، فسكر منه رجل فجلده علي ثمانين، قال: فشهدوا عنده أنه (إنما) (٢) سكر من الذي رزقهم، قال: ولم شرب منه حتى سكر (٣)؟.
Hazrat Sha’bi narrates that Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) gave people ripe grape syrup in small pitchers. As a result, one man became intoxicated. Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) had him flogged eighty lashes. The narrator says that all the people testified before him that this person became intoxicated from the same syrup which you had given to the people. He said: Why did he drink so much of it that he became completely intoxicated?
