Hadith 28635
٢٨٦٣٥ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا حميد بن عبد الرحمن عن (حسن) (١) عن بيان عن الشعبي قال: ذكر قول علي في الذي أصيبت عينه حيث أراه البيضة فقال: الشعبي إنه إن شاء زاد في عينه (٢) التي يبصر بها، فقال: إنه يبصر بها أكثر مما يبصر بها، وإن شاء نقص من عينه التي أصيبت، فقال: إنه لا يبصر بها، وهو (يبصر) (٣) بها، ولكن أمثل من ذلك أن ينظر طبيب ما (يرى) (٤) فينظر (ما) (٥) نقص منها (٦).
Hazrat Sha’bi narrates that regarding a person whose eye is injured, the saying of Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) is mentioned that he showed him an egg. Sha’bi asked: If he uses his seeing eye more, Ali replied: He may see as much as he can with it. I asked: If he uses his injured eye less, he replied: He should not see less than what he can, rather it is better that he sees as much as he can easily, then the loss will be assessed (an estimate will be made).
