Hadith 26837
٢٦٨٣٧ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا شبابة عن ابن أبي ذئب عن الحارث عن كريب مولى ابن عباس (عن أسامة) (١) قال: دخلت على رسول اللَّه ﷺ الكآبة فقلت: ما لك يا رسول اللَّه! قال: "إن جبريل وعدني أن يأتيني، فلم يأتني منذ ثلاث"، (فجاز) (٢) كلب، قال أسامة: فوضعت يدي على رأسي وَصِحْتً، فجعل النبي فيقول: "ما لك يا أسامة؟ "، قلت (جاز) (٣) كلب، (فأمره) (٤) النبي ﷺ بقتله فقُتل، فأتاه جبريل (فهش) (٥) إليه، فقال رسول اللَّه ﷺ: "مالك أبطأت ⦗٨٦⦘ وقد كنت إذا وعدتني لم تخلفني؟ "، فقال: "إنا لا ندخل بيتًا فيه (كلب ولا تصاوير) (٦) " (٧).
It is narrated from Hazrat Usama. He says: I entered and saw signs of distress on the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). I asked, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! What has happened to you?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Jibreel had promised me for three days that he would come to me, but he has not come." During this time, a dog passed by. Hazrat Usama says: I put my hand on my head and cried out. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began to say, "O Usama! What happened to you?" I said, "A dog passed by." So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered it to be killed, and it was killed. Then Hazrat Jibreel came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) rushed towards him. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What happened to you? You were late, whereas when you make a promise to me, you do not break it." Hazrat Jibreel said: "We do not enter a house in which there is a dog or a picture."
