Hadith 25787
٢٥٧٨٧ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا وكيع عن إسماعيل بن أبي خالد عن قرة العجلي عن عبد الملك بن القعقاع عن ابن عمر قال: كنا عند النبي ﷺ، فأتي بقدح فيه شراب، فقربه إلى فيه، ثم رده، [فقال (له) (١) بعض جلسائه: أحرام هو يا رسول اللَّه، قال: (ردوه) (٢)] (٣)، فردوه، ثم دعا بماء فصبه عليه ثم شربه فقال: انظروا هذه الأشربة، فإذا اغتلمت عليكم فاقطعوا (متونها) (٤) (٥) بالماء (٦).
It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both). He says: We were present in the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when a bowl containing some beverage was brought to him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) brought the bowl close to his mouth, then put it back. Upon this, some of those present in the gathering asked: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Is this forbidden? The narrator says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered, "Bring that beverage back." So the companions returned the beverage to him. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked for water and poured it into the beverage, and then drank it. And he said: "Look at these beverages. When they become strong for you, then break their strength with water."
