Hadith 25709
٢٥٧٠٩ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا عبد الرحيم بن (سليمان) (١) عن يزيد بن أبي زياد عن عبد الرحمن بن أبي ليلى قال: استسقى حذيفة بالمدائن فأتاه دهقان بإناء من فضة فيه شراب، فأراد أن يضرب به وجهه فقيل له: إن الدهاقين يكرمون الأمراء بهذا، قال: إني كنت نهيته، واتخذت عليه الحجة أن رسول اللَّه ﷺ نهانا أن نشرب في (آنية) (٢) الفضة والذهب (٣).
It is narrated from Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Abi Laila. He says that Hazrat Hudhaifa (may Allah be pleased with him) asked for water at the place of Mada'in. So a peasant brought him water in a silver vessel. Hazrat Hudhaifa (may Allah be pleased with him) wanted to strike that vessel at the peasant's face. Hazrat Hudhaifa (may Allah be pleased with him) was informed that these peasants honor the nobles in this manner. Hazrat Hudhaifa (may Allah be pleased with him) said, I had already forbidden him from this, and as proof I had also told him that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade drinking from vessels of gold and silver.
