Hadith 25035
٢٥٠٣٥ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا (شبابة قال: حدثنا) (١) شعبة عن سماك عن علقمة بن وائل عن أبيه أن رجلًا من جُعْفَى يقال له: سويد بن طارق سأل النبي ﷺ عن الخمر فنهاه عنها، فقال: يا رسول اللَّه، إنما (نصنعها) (٢) للدواء، فقال: رسول اللَّه ﷺ: "إنها داء وليست بدواء" (٣).
Hazrat Alqamah bin Wa'il narrates from his father that a man from the tribe of Juhfi, who was called Suwaid bin Tariq, asked the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about wine. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade him from it. He said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! We make it for medicinal purposes." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "It is a disease, it is not a medicine."
