Hadith 23613
٢٣٦١٣ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا وكيع قال: حدثنا الأعمش عن خيثمة قال: قال أبو الدرداء: كنت تاجرا قبل أن يبعث النبي ﷺ فلما بعث النبي ﷺ أردت أن أجمع بين التجارة و (العبادة) (١) فلم يستقم لي، فتركت التجارة وأقبلت على العبادة (٢).
Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) says that before the Prophethood of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), I used to do business. When the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was sent as a Prophet, I intended to combine business and worship, but I was not able to do so. So I left business and devoted myself to worship.
