Hadith 23
٢٣ - حدثنا عباد بن العوام عن (عوف عن أبي) (١) المنهال أن أبا العالية رأى رجلا يتوضأ، فلما فرغ قال: اللهم اجعلني من التوابين واجعلني من المتطهرين فقال: إن الطهور بالماء حسن، ولكنهم المتطهرون من الذنوب.
Hazrat Abu Al-Minhāl narrates that Hazrat Abu Al-‘Āliyah saw a man performing ablution. When he finished his ablution, he said, “O Allah! Make me among those who repent and among those who purify themselves.” Upon hearing this supplication, Hazrat Abu Al-‘Āliyah said that attaining purity through water is excellent, but these people are those who also purify themselves from sins.
