Hazrat Thalabah bin Farat Ansari (may Allah have mercy on him) says that I sold cloth to some people of a tribe and kept money as collateral for a specific period. When the appointed time was completed, I bought date trees from them in exchange for that money and took possession of them. I dried the fruit on the tree itself; when the clusters formed and bore fruit, I picked them. Then those who had sold to me came to me and showed interest in that fruit. I sold that fruit to them for a fixed period. People talked a lot about this matter, so I asked Hazrat Salim (may Allah have mercy on him) about it and narrated the whole story to him. He asked, "Did you have in your heart the intention to sell it to them again?" I replied, "No, by Allah, this thought never even crossed my mind." He said, "Then there is no harm." Then I asked Hazrat Qasim (may Allah have mercy on him). He also asked, "Did you have in your heart the intention to sell it to them again?" I replied, "No, by Allah, this thought never even came to my mind." He (may Allah have mercy on him) said, "Then there is no harm."
