Hadith 22170
٢٢١٧٠ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا ابن عيينة عن ابن أبي نجيح عن مجاهد قال: ليس به بأس اليوم إنما أراد النبي ﷺ أن يصيب الناس غرة أهل البادية لما قدم المدينة.
Hazrat Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him) says that nowadays there is no harm in doing so; indeed, the Prophet ﷺ forbade it so that when villagers came to Madinah, people would not take undue advantage of their simplicity. Hazrat Ata (may Allah have mercy on him) says that even nowadays, this is not right and correct.
