Hadith 2205
٢٢٠٥ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: نا ابن عليه عن ابن عون عن محمد قال: كان الأذان أن يقول: اللَّه أكبر، اللَّه أكبر، ثم يجعل أصبعيه في أذنيه، وأول من ترك إحدى أصبعيه في أذنيه ابن الأصم.
Muhammad says that the call to prayer (adhan) is that a person should say "Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar" and then place his fingers in his ears. Ibn al-Asam was the first to abandon the practice of placing fingers in the ears.
