Hadith 20756
٢٠٧٥٦ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: نا محمد بن فضيل عن (مجالد) (١) عن الشعبي ⦗١٤١⦘ عن عدي بن حاتم قال: قلت: يا رسول اللَّه إنا قوم نصيد فما يحل لنا (مما) (٢) يحرم علينا؟ قال: "يحل لكم ما علمتم من الجوارح مكلبين تعلمونهن مما علمكم اللَّه فكلوا مما أمسكن عليكم واذكروا اسم اللَّه عليه" قال: قلت: وإن قتل؟ قال: "وإن قتل" قال: "وإن خالطها كلاب (أخر) (٣) فلا تأكل حتى تعلم أن كلبك هو الذي أخذه" (٤).
Hazrat Adi bin Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I asked: O Messenger of Allah! We are people who hunt; what is lawful for us and what is unlawful? The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Whatever hunting animals you train from the knowledge Allah has given you, eat what they hunt for you, provided that you have taken the name of Allah when sending them. I asked: Even if it kills the animal? He replied: Yes, even if it kills it. Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: If other dogs join your dog, then you cannot use that hunted animal until you know that your dog hunted it.
