Hazrat Dahhak bin Muzahim, may Allah have mercy on him, narrates that once a woman married a young man. That young man gave her one or two divorces. Then he came to her when she was performing the ritual bath (ghusl) after her third menstruation. He said to her, "O so-and-so! I have taken you back (in reconciliation)." The woman said, "You are lying! You cannot do that." Then this case was presented before Hazrat Umar bin Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him. Hazrat Abdullah, may Allah be pleased with him, was also sitting with him. Hazrat Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, said to him, "O Abu Abdur Rahman! What is your opinion?" He asked the woman under oath, "Had you poured water over your body?" She said, "No." Hazrat Abdullah, may Allah be pleased with him, said to the young man, "Take her by the hand and take her away."
