Hadith 19713
١٩٧١٣ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: نا (وكيع قال ثنا) (١) إسماعيل ((بن) (٢) إبراهيم) (٣) عن أبيه عن مجاهد أن ابن الزبير تزوج امرأة فاستزادوه في المهر فحلف أن لا يزيدهم ولا يدخل بها حتى (يكونوا) (٤) هم (الذين) (٥) يطلبون ذلك منه قال: فتركها (سنين) (٦) ثم طلبوا إليه فدخل بها فلم يره إيلاء (٧).
Hazrat Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Ibn Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) married a woman. People demanded an increase in the dowry, so Hazrat Ibn Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) swore that he would neither increase the dowry nor have marital relations with the woman. Then he left her like this for two years. Later, when people requested him, he had a lawful meeting with his wife and did not consider it as Ila (an oath of abstention). Hazrat Waki’ (may Allah have mercy on him) says that this was also the view of Hazrat Sufyan (may Allah have mercy on him), and this is our opinion as well.
