Hadith 19229
١٩٢٢٩ - حدثنا (أبو بكر) (١) قال: نا عبد الرحمن بن مهدي عن الهذيل بن بلال عن شيخ يكنى أبا عمرو (٢) قال: كنت جالسًا عند ابن عباس فأتته امرأة فقالت: إن زوجها يطلقها في السر، و (يجحد) (٣) في العلانية، فقال: عليه أن يحلف أربع شهادات باللَّه ما طلق، والخامسة أن لعنة اللَّه (عليه) (٤) إن كان فعل (٥).
A venerable elder, Abu Amr (may Allah have mercy on him), relates: I was sitting with Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) when a woman came and said, "My husband divorces me in private, but when in front of people, he denies it." He (Ibn Abbas) said: "The man should swear four times by Allah that he has not divorced her, and the fifth time he should say: 'If I have divorced her, then may Allah's curse be upon me.'"
