Hadith 18970
١٨٩٧٠ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: نا عبد الأعلى عن هشام عن الحسن في الرجل يكتب إلى امرأته بطلاقها ثم يبدو له أن يمسك الكتاب، قال: ليس بشيء ما لم يتكلم وإن بعث إليها اعتدت من يوم يأتيها الكتاب.
Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) says that if a person writes a divorce to his wife, then thinks to withhold the letter, then if he does not speak (about it), it has no significance. If the letter is sent to the wife, then from the day she receives the letter, the woman will count her waiting period (‘iddah) from that day.
