Hadith 1878
١٨٧٨ - حدثنا وكيع عن سفيان عن علقمة بن مرثد عن سليمان بن بريدة عن أبيه: أن رسول اللَّه ﷺ لما كان يوم فتح مكة توضأ، ومسح على خفيه، فقال (١) عمر: يا رسول اللَّه رأيتك اليوم صنعت شيئا لم تكن لتصنعه قبل اليوم؟! فقال: "يا عمر (عمدا) (٢) صنعته" (٣).
It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Buraidah that on the day of the conquest of Makkah, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) wiped over his socks while performing ablution. Hazrat Umar submitted, "O Messenger of Allah! Today I have seen you do something which you have never done before!" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "O Umar! I have done this deliberately."
