Hadith 18648
١٨٦٤٨ - حدثنا محمد بن (بشر) (١) قال: نا الحجاج بن أبي عثمان عن يحيى ⦗٨٠⦘ ابن أبي كثير عن محمد بن إبراهيم عن ابن عتيك الأنصاري عن أبيه قال: قال نبي اللَّه ﷺ: "من الغيرة ما يحب اللَّه ومنها ما يبغض اللَّه، فأما الغيرة التي يحب (اللَّه) (٢) فالغيرة في (الريبة) (٣)، وأما الغيرة التي يبغض اللَّه فالغيرة في غير (ريبة) (٤) " (٥).
It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Atiq Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There is a type of protective jealousy (ghayrah) that Allah likes, and there is a type that Allah dislikes. The type of protective jealousy that Allah likes is that which occurs in the case of doubt and disobedience, and the type that Allah dislikes is that which occurs without doubt or disobedience.
