Hadith 18391
١٨٣٩١ - حدثنا علي بن مسهر عن سعيد عن قتادة عن (خلاس) (١) (قال) (٢): تزوج (أخوان) (٣) أختين، (فأدخلت) (٤) امرأة هذا على هذا وامرأة هذا على هذا، فرفع ذلك إلى علي فرد كل (واحدة) (٥) منهما إلى (صاحبها) (٦)، وأمر زوجها أن (لا) (٧) يقربها حتى تنقضي عدتها، وجعل لكل (واحدة) (٨) منهما الصداق على الذي وطئها لغشيانه إياها وجعل جهازها، والغرم على الذي زوجها (٩).
Hazrat Khallas (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that once two brothers married two sisters, and each of them brought another woman besides his own wife. This case was presented in the court of Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). He ordered that each woman be returned to her original husband and instructed that the husbands should not go near their wives until the waiting period (‘iddah) had passed. Then he made the dowry (mahr) obligatory upon those who had consummated the marriage, and imposed the penalty on the person who had arranged the marriage.
